REMARKS:

SYNOPSIS: On June 13, 1969, Pvt. James C. Story was the driver of a two and
one-half ton truck carrying artillery projectiles in a convoy that was
ambushed in the Pleiku area of South Vietnam. Other members of the convoy
saw his truck completely disintegrate when the load he was carrying had a
sympathetic detonation when hit by rocket or mortar fire.

A search party located only pieces of the wreckage, but they could find
nothing that resembled human remains. It is assumed that Story disintegrated
in the massive explosion.

Pvt. James C. Story was classified as Killed in Action/Body Not Recovered.
His name is listed with honor among the missing because his remains were
never found. There is little hope that Pvt. James C. Story could have
survived. For some of their comrades, however, there is ample reason for
hope. Mounting evidence indicates that hundreds of Americans were abandoned
as prisoners of war at the end of the war and remain in captivity today. For
the honor of those who died in Southeast Asia as well as the honor of our
country itself, those live Americans must be brought home.
