SYNOPSIS:
Note: Larry was questioned on "other personnel" and coordinate discrepencies
in the crew.....

I was flying with Jerry Marvel when we were shot down. I don't know why the
coordinates are different, unless it had something to do with my going out
of the plane about 10 seconds later than Jerry, which would equate to about
a mile. Also, I was heard making radio transmissions for the four days that
elapsed before I was captured, so maybe someone picked up on that.

LAURENCE V. FRIESE

I've always said that if I cried a lot when I was a baby, it was because my
mother named me Laurence. She did that on my birthday, March 6, 1942. I have
many nicknames including Larry, The Fish, and The Freeze. Most people go
through college in four years, but some who have superior intelligence and
ambition can do so in only three years. It took me five. When I was 23 I
finished my education at the University of Washington with a degree in
Oceanography.

While fulfilling my military obligation I was, as you know, shot down in
Vietnam. But being from a land of so many nice people, and being able to
look forward to seeing all of them again made my detention a piece of cake.
After five years on ice, I am uncertain about what I want to do with the
remainder of my life. The only plan I have is to take a long vacation and
see many friends, old and new.

I wish good luck to all of the children for whom this book was written, and
I hope that the life of each one of them is always as full and enjoyable as
a human life can possibly be.

Laurence V. (Larry) Friese did an inter-service transfer from the
Marines to the Navy shortly after repatriation. Friese retired from the
United States Navy as a Commander in 1985. He and his wife Lillian reside in
California.
