DAVID B. DINGEE

Shot Down: June 27, 1972
Released: March 28, 1973

Two months after Captain David B. Dingee began to fly missions from Udorn AB,
Thailand, his F-4 was shot down. He was captured on June 27, 1972. For ten
months he was interned in a North Vietnamese prison camp.

On March 28, 1973 he was released and returned to his wife, Linda, whom he had
married in 1960. He was also greeted by his three happy sons, Steven, Mark and
Scott.

Living outside the United States was not a new experience for Dingee when he
was sent to the Far East by the Air Force. He was born in Olney, Maryland in
1943 but he lived in Turkey from 1950 to 1959. He then returned to the United
States where he graduated from the University of Arizona in 1967, entered the
Air Force the same year, and earned his navigation rating in 1968. He spent
the year 1970 in Danang.

He and his family are presently at Moody Air Force Base in Georgia. He plans
to stay in the Air Force and is going to Undergraduate Pilot Training.

He says, "My thanks to all Americans for their kind support and wonderful
reception upon my return."

David Dingee retired from the United States Air Force as a Colonel. He and
his wife Linda reside in Virginia.
