Capt. Verlyne W. Daniels was born 23 April 1930 at Reamsville Kansas. In 1936
the family moved to Galt, California where he attended school through the
sixth grade. In 1942 the family moved to Stockton California where he
completed grammar school and high school. He graduated from junior college in
June 1950.

Verlyne entered flight training in January 1951 and received his wings and
commission in July 1952. He flew AD-4 Skyraiders with Attack Squadron 155 on
board USS Princeton in the Korean War from March 1953 until the cessation of
hostilities in August 1953. He attended General Line School at Monterey,
California in 1955-56 and then reported to NAAS Saufley Field Pensacola
Florida where he served as a Flight Instructor until September 1959.

Following two years of duty on board USS Kearsarge as an Ordnance Handline
Officer he served as Maintenance Officer and then as Operations Officer of
Attack Squadron 163 at NAS Lemoore California. He reported to the US Naval
Postgraduate school at Monterey California in August 1964 and obtained a
Bachelor of Science degree in August 1966. In September 1966 he reported to
Attack Squadron 125 at NAS Lemoore and served as an Instructor until May 1967
when he reported to Attack Squadron 155 as Executive Officer. He was shot down
by a Surface-to-Air missile near Hanoi on 26 October 1967 and was released 14
March 1973.

After returning home Verlyne married Julie Geary of Alameda, California,
the girl who had waited for him during the time he was a prisoner.

Capt. Daniels intends to remain on active duty in the Navy.

Verlene Daniels retired from the Unted States Navy as a Captain. He and his
wife Julie reside in California.
